FREE ON-LINE RESOURCES FROM THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS
The Library of Congress is the world's largest library, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections.
The library's primary site (www.loc.gov) has made these resources available on-line for years.
The library has launched two new sites: a personalized site (www.myLOC.gov) that presents items in compelling on-line exhibitions; and a specific site for teachers (www.loc.gov/teachers) with lesson plans, interactive projects and links to primary resources. Please share this information with other educators in your district to make sure they're aware of these free resources to engage students in learning. Source: NSPRA This Week, Feb. 24, 2009.
The National Center for Family Literacy
Working with the Appalachia Regional Comprehensive Center the National Center for Family Literacy has produced a wonderful series of podcasts on family involvement. These free 7-10 minute programs include listening guides and transcripts, and would be great to highlight in school newsletters or for staff discussions of family literacy programs: Arcc.Edvantia - Parent Involvement Podcasts
